A young man named John in his early 20s came in for NMRT because he was having a lot of pain in his right knee. He was a cyclist in training for a marathon run. When he came into the office, it was obviously that his body was way out of balance; his left shoulder was extremely high. When I asked him what had happened to his shoulder, he reported that he had dislocated it when he was 12 years old. Looking at him, I determined that the shift of his body weight to the right was causing pressure on his right knee. He was literally leaning to the right because of his high left shoulder. The high left shoulder was actually the cause of his knee pain. In two sessions he was out of pain and straighter. How? By releasing the high left shoulder and the lower right trapezius muscles, his posture was straighter. I also released the constricted quadricep muscles in his painful knee and by the end of the first session, he was virtually pain free. By the end of the second session, he was pain free.
